Capital Campaign Grants

Supporting capital campaigns is a long-standing tradition for the Oshkosh Area Community Foundation. Community Foundation funds are usually provided as a challenge grant, requiring at least a 1:1 match from local donors.

Past Support
  • $7,400,000 for the construction of the Pollock Community Water Park
  • $3,000,000 to the Oshkosh Community YMCA for the renovation of the downtown YMCA and construction of the 20th Avenue YMCA
  • $2,600,000 for the construction of the Leach Amphitheater
  • $1,000,000 to renovate the Oshkosh Convention Center (loan)
  • $500,000 for a garden renovation at the Paine Arts Center and Gardens
  • $250,000 to Mercy Medical Center for the construction of a new hospital
  • $250,000 to the Oshkosh Area Humane Society for the construction of a new shelter and service center

Grant Criteria
  • Impact of the capital project on the organization's ability to meet its mission and serve the community
  • Research or documentation on why the project is needed
  • Clear link between the project and community need
  • Presence of a proper fundraising campaign structure (feasibility study, leadership, fundraising plans with realistic timelines and gift ranges) to ensure the organization will meet its goals
  • Importance of Community Foundation support in helping the organization meet its goals
  • Great need and substantial benefit to the community and its citizens
  • Awarded only to projects in Winnebago County (Wisconsin)

  • 501(c)(3) determination letter
  • Most recent financial audit or IRS form 990
  • Board of Directors list
  • Overall operating budget
  • Grant program budget (download Budget Worksheet)
