The Green Lake Basics Needs Fund has awarded $82,300 to seven organizations.
This fund supports charitable projects and programs that meet residents' basics needs, including food, clothing and shelter. A health community provides a network of services, including basic social needs. Failing to meet these needs can jeopardize an individual's quality of life and create costly and complex problems for the community over time. We hope to help eliminate these problems. (Read More)
|Butterflies bring learning to life - March 14 2017
Nick Mees understands that the key to teaching is making learning fun and come to life. As a Life & Earth science teacher at Merrill middle school, he was awarded a Celebrate Education grant by the Oshkosh Area School District Education Foundation for Bedazzled by Butterflies in the Classroom, a program that used painted lady butterflies to actively demonstrate their life cycle. |Youth Fund continues the Hiwela Legacy into 80th year celebration - March 2 2017
On June 26, 1937, Camp Hiwela officially opened in Wild Rose.
At that time, the residents of Oshkosh had a powerful belief that their daughters could benefit from a residential camping experience. From the architects who designed the cabins and dining halls, to the volunteers who built and maintained the camp, to the parents who gave up a week of vacation every summer to act as camp nurses or rangers, the whole community supported Camp Hiwela.
